Dr. Richard Seaman, the owner of the Madeira Veterinary Hospital, was born and raised on a farm in northwest Ohio where his love of animals began. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1968 from Miami University, then entered the Army and was a staff sergeant in Vietnam, returning in 1970. Two days after his return, he began working on his Master of Science degree at Miami, which he completed in 1972. After earning a Ph.D. in physiology and biophysics from the University of Kentucky, he went on to the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where in 1979 he was awarded a D.V.M. degree. He has practiced small-animal medicine and surgery in Cincinnati his entire veterinary career. Married for 38 years, he and his wife Judy have two children: Brad, a D.V.M. who has his own small animal practice in Brooklyn, New York, and Megan, who lives next door with her husband and their three children. In his spare time, Dr. Seaman enjoys reading, cooking, fishing, and being a grandpa!
Dr. Christina Canis was born in Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors in biology from Virginia Tech in 2005. During college, she worked at a small animal hospital as a veterinary assistant, volunteered at the Virginia Tech Sheep Center, and was selected to participate in the Marine Resources Population Dynamics Workshop in Florida. Inspired by her high school AP biology teacher, she made the decision to apply to veterinary school because of her passion for biology and her desire to work closely with both animals and people. She graduated from The Ohio State University of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 with a D.V.M. degree, graduating in the top third of her class. While in veterinary school, she was selected to travel to an animal shelter and hospital in Medina del Campo, Spain, to advance her surgical techniques, manage wound care, and perform ultrasound examinations. During her last year of clinical rotations, she worked in Cincinnati at a variety of veterinary emergency and referral practices to hone her skills in ophthalmology, internal medicine, oncology, surgery, and emergency medicine. In her free time, Christina enjoys the great outdoors, hiking, painting, traveling, being with family and friends and her shelter-adopted pets, Haley and Herman!
Dr. Julie Storm was raised in Texas and attended Texas A&M for her undergraduate work in Biomedical Sciences. She graduated with her D.V.M. in 2006 from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she gained a wealth of experience by completing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Specialists of Rochester before moving to Greenville, SC for 7 years. Dr. Storm relocated to the Cincinnati area in May of 2014 and joined Madeira Veterinary Hospital. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is going to work knowing that she is making a difference in the lives of both her patients and their families-getting kisses from her patients is a close second! Dr. Storm is married to her high school sweetheart and they share their home with their two amazing children, two crazy dogs, and two of the sweetest cats around. Dr. Storm loves gardening, cooking, yoga, hiking, and traveling the world with her family.
